The Probability Project
For the probability project each group got to pick there probability topic. My group and I first decided to use an idea we got from a video our teacher showed us. In the video there were two dolls. One resembled an African American baby and the other resembled a white baby. Kids were brought into the video, kids between 1st grade and 5th grade, and they were asked a series of questions, for example, which baby was ugly? or, which baby was the bad baby? My group and I had most of the project planned out to record our own version of the video but we could never agree on time. My group and I ended up picking a brand new topic for the project and our guiding question was, has HTH created an enviornment where both genders feel safe to play sports?
The purpose of this project was to get actual data of the students that go to our schools and if things needed to change we could support it with data that was collected. In the beginning of this project I was definitely not on board what so ever with the project. Over time my math teacher (Mona K Samimi) helped me understand that this project wasn't trying to make me feel like I did something wrong but the privilege I have and how I can use it to better probability. In this project I learned that the privilege that I have with social media is that I can get my voice heard.
In this project we wrote personal narratives, interviews with other students, experiment data and analysis & implications, and a reflection.
